Any Realtors out there?

I NEED to get away! My husband has conceeded the point. Between my mother, my sons, my job and school I am going nuts! So I am looking for a place to get away alone to rethink the rest of my life.

I would like to find a furnished apartment/condo/home within a four hour drive of central NJ. I want to stay just for the month of August. How do I find this?? If I look for vacation rentals I seem to find either 1 week or all summer. I cannot afford to pay $1000 a week for 4 weeks. If I push it I could maybe go $1000 for the whole month.

Anyone who has any idea how I can find a quiet, safe, natural setting, but not to far from civilization. I would love any suggestions.
Linda

I don't know much about the area, but give craigslist.org a try. I've successfully found lodging twice using that site. One was for a year and the other was for 2 months in the summer...

If you cannot find a get-a-way within your price range, I would suggest perhaps working on organic farm for a month in exchange for food and rent. ( I know of a couple) or there are Amish farms that will allow you to stay fairly cheap for a bit(you can work or not). I have a very small room that I could offer to you in exchange for helping me around the house(PLEASE!!)
Good luck.

I saw a video clip on ABC Good Morning America about cheap getaways in America that are almost just like international destinations. One was in Michigan, another was in Florida. It was on tv this week, and was pretty cheap -some boasted $1000 a week for all furnished beach townhomes with no vehichles allowed. Very peaceful atmosphere.

Very short term might be able to found on Craigslist, I would go for that first since there are people out east that might just have the place for you. You should post an ad and see what you get. You'd be surprised how many people are going out of their way to get rid of things or rent rooms out these days!
