American or English Lit. first?

I need to take both American and English Lit. Would it be more advantageous to take one before the other?

If you're looking to follow up your great score on the A&I Lit test, I would recommend working on Amer. Lit. next. If you're American, you probably already have a very good grounding in American authors and studying should be a little easier. The English Lit. covers a lot of ground from Beowulf up to the present, so extra study may be required if you are unfamiliar with the subject.
I took and passed all 3 tests - A&I Lit (68), Amer. Lit (66), Eng. Lit. (68) - in that order - I didn't find much overlap between the three tests - I really studied hard for the Eng. Lit. test.

Personally, I found English Lit easier because it was broader and didn't go into as much depth & there wasn't as many works to cover. I knew more English Lit than American Lit though. Sparknotes or Cliff Notes are good for book summaries.
