OK, so I have been studying for this test and have gotten a lot of useful information from past posts, but I am very concerned that I am not ready.
I have taken two Peterson practice tests and scored 44 and 48 - this is what scares me. While I am taking these tests I always feel confident that I know the information and am always a little shocked by the score. I have never scored below 50 in any practice test before (except math). There also seems to be a lot of graphs in the practice test. Are there a lot on the actual test?
Well, I am suppose to take the test tomorrow at 3 PM and I am feeling very nervous. Studying is a challenge because I have 3 kids home from school.
Anyhow, I will just keep plugging away. Any advice is always welcome.
Thanks, Kim

I'm also studying for Amer. Gov. and received similar scores as Kim on my peterson practice tests (46 and 48%'s). But then I took the practice test out of the Official CLEP Study Guide and received a 64%. Does anyone know if the peterson practice tests are much, much harder than the actual CLEP exam? I'm scheduled to take this test 7/8... meanwhile I'll start studying for Social Science & History.

Petersons exams are usually harder than the real thing, by how much is of course dependent on the examinee. Suffice it to say if you can pass a Petersons exam you should be more than able to sit the real exam.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

I took Peterson mocks for each of my first seven CLEP exams. In EVERY case, I scored higher on the actual exam than I did on the mock.
It is subjective, but my own experience suggests that Petersons are usually more difficult than the real thing. The questions on the Peterson mocks tend to probe a little deeper, and are often more complex than the actual CLEP questions.
Your experience may be different of course.

I too have found Peterson to be harder, I would just like my score to be over 50% for me to feel comfortable taking the test.
Testingout - Thanks for the link and the advice. I printed out the exam and hopefully I will feel more confident.
Now back to studying!!

Thanks for the well wishes!
I have just taken my last Peterson test and scored a 59, so at least I feel a little better about today. Yesterday I took the College Board practice test and surprisingly did very well - I got 71% of the questions right.
Things are coming together, I think. Why does it have to be so stressful on exam days?? I seriously drive everyone in my family crazy! At least it will be over soon.
Back to studying - only have 1 more hour of babysitting!

So about 15 minute before I left for my test, I realized I missed an entire section on InstantCert.... I basically crammed 52 questions in 15 minutes. It made me a bit stressed...
Luckily I passed with a 54!
Now I am going to get these kids to bed a have a drink!!
Thanks again for the support and encouraging words. I am very grateful to have found this board.

Oh! Well Done Kim,
I'm so glad to hear that you passed (even with the missed section "oopsie!"). CLEP American Government is a challenging exam but, as you now know, it IS doable.
There's no stopping you now!
hilarious
Congratulations,
