Alternatives to Charter Oak.
#1
I am currently doing individual studies- Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Psychology at Charter Oak. My plan was to do a few other courses and graduate. I have to take 2 more courses to reach the 30 credit Upper Level Minimum at Charter Oak after this semester. I feel the whole process is taking much longer than expected. Should I look at attending another college??? What will Charter Oak take as upper level courses or how should I knock out the Union & Labor Relations course?

Penn Foster 12 units Business Classes
Community College and COSC 93
Aleks-6 College Algebra and Business Stats

Now I have a total 111 with the exception of Union & Labor relations and the ISB 498 and ISB 499 I am slated to complete the non completed next semester.

MGT 101 Prin. of Management
BADM 116 Human Relations in Business
BUS 430 International Business
BUS 400 Business Ethics
BUS 340 Organizational Behavior
BUS 350 Supervision & Leadership
MGT 425 Union & Labor Relations - Not Completed
PSYC 101 Intro. Psychology
PSY 306 Industrial/Org. Psychology
PSY 321 Social Psychology - Not Completed - In Progress

Sounds like you're almost done, what benefit would you receive by switching now?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Hey endurance! Wow...you're almost there, I'd just stick it out. But hey, I don't see Union Labor & Relations under the Concentrations Requirements for Organizational Leadership or Psychology. Since it's not required, maybe you could swap it out for another UL course?

I would be surprised if switching to a completely different college was faster than simply taking the last two or three courses you need.

Well my concern is terms are 8 weeks long. This semester I am taking 4 courses. After those 4 I have to do my Capstone and 2 upper level electives. It may not seem long but that's almost a year.

Yes, but that's how long it would take anywhere else...

You might see if CSU-Pueblo has an UL that would work, that's where the bulk of my Org Leadership for COSC came from. I don't recall having to take that. There are also TECEP, EC, and a few DSST exams that are UL and might help you along. Your advisor should be able to heOp point you in the right direction. Good luck, and I suspect sticking it out will, by far, be the quickest route.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

My personal experience, and what I observed with other members of this site is the more time you waste trying to find shortcuts, the longer its going to take. Unless you desperately (and I mean desperately) need to complete your degree in less than a year, it will be easier to stay the course.

Consider the time it would take you to locate a new degree/school/etc., apply, get approved, locate courses/exams, that would probably take about two months. If you find self paced courses, you have to be self disciplined enough to do them quicker than 8 weeks, which is difficult, especially if you juggle a FT job and a family. I tried taking a few BYU IS study courses to "save time" and ended up averaging about 4 months for each course.

If you stay with your plan and take 3 courses this term, 2 the next, and 2 the last, that is about 24 weeks, which is about 6 months, and will require as much effort as in finding and switching programs and hustling to study for and complete IS courses and CLEP tests.

You have to know yourself. Unless you KNOW your life won't get in your way and you can devote about 50 hrs per week studying, it is in my opinion that you will not save any time.

Just out of curiosity, what program would you switch to if you do decide to switch?
