I'm a bit confused by this chapter. Are we expected to do interviews? Can we just comb through case studies or do we actually have to interview or something?

You don't have to do interviews from what I understand, you are basically just stating what you are going to do research wise to obtain the information needed to answers your questions.

You should ask your mentor. Some mentors have required original research, and some haven't.
