Theoretically... I shared them a LOT over the last 8 years and have to guess that at least one or two people actually used the code, and I never got any reimbursement. Same with study.com's sharing/program.

Yeah I shared the Study.com coupon code with a couple people (you, perhaps?) and never saw anything back either, haha. Oh well.

Yeah, you probably did share it with me (thank you!!), it just seems like so much has happened/my brain is overflowing from all the learning over the past year or so, that I had totally forgotten about their program until you posted that question.

Zapp, I know you are homeschooled but have you looked at programs through your local school district? My daughter's school district has a program where you can earn your Associates Degree at the same time you earn your high school diploma. The college courses are free. This isn't just community college either. They are partnered with a local private college where the tuition is 36k a year. It is an excellent school. And it's free while she is a high school student! Beyond the Associate's Degree they also allow 40 hours of testing credits - from CLEP, DSST or ACE. So, theoretically she could have three-ish years completed by 18 / 19 years old for nothing more than her testing costs. This takes longer of course. These are butt-in-seat, semester long, B&M courses. Some are taught at the high school but most are in an actual college classroom. The contacts she'll make within the community are valuable too - maybe just as valuable as the diploma. If she doesn't get into the private college, she could take classes with the community college for free and maybe use testing credits shortly thereafter for the last two years. It just depends on how hard she wants to work and what she wants to do with her major.
I don't know what options are available to you but you might want to check on it. It doesn't hurt to ask. They might work with you to offer the college courses through the high school while completing the high school courses at home. Or they might let start early - I'm guessing you are pretty close to high school age if you turned 13 last year?
These testing options, while great for older adults who are already working, have decades of life experience etc. are fine. But there is something valuable about interacting with other students and professors and making valuable contacts.

Cathgrl, my dad suggested I check out the Institutes. I checked them out and got really bored and quickly quit. (;
Wow, your 40 year old idea is pretty creative! I never even thought of that!! Funny everyone is so confused about this.

I checked out his profile...wow!! I used to debate in online debating venues when I was your age and got called out the same way, they also said I had to be a guy. hilarious Obviously it's prudent to question it because of the nature of the interwebs and because it's shocking to find a 13 yo old in this society who can speak and write coherently! And if you happen to also be in the old soul club, then that's even cooler, though you'll find it tends to intimidate people. :coolgleam:

There's also View High School, an unaccredited high school sponsored by study.com. It is only $166 per year and includes taking Ace credit courses in place of regular high school courses. You have to interact with instructors and other students as a part of the program.
