Hi,
I know it's not a popular exam here but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Advertising TECEP? I checked the feedback section and there are only a couple (like 3!) posts about it - none of them recent - so I thought I'd send out a forum-wide message.
I have the Arens Advertising book and have read through it once and am in the process of doing the chapter quizzes on the companion website. I am so nervous because I have no experience with TECEPs at all and am not really sure what to expect. They seem a little more difficult than what I am used to with the Clep and Dantes exams.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kelly

I have taken 2 TECEP exams, unless they have changed lately they are not computerized. They may be a little harder then CLEP/DSST, but nothing I think you can't handle. The passing grade can be higher, but I got my highest grades on the TECEP exams so I think it evens out.
I did a search of the TESC discussion board and there is nothing there either.

Lindagerr,
Thanks so much for the help and encouragement. Ok, I took this TECEP today and won't know my results for a couple of weeks (to say the least). But, here are my observations:
I used the Arens textbook recommended and it was a must have. Several questions on the exam seemed to be "lifted" directly from text. I had the 12th edition but I don't think it was necessary to have the most recent version.
Also, there were at least 3 questions that I recognized from the TECEP exam outline practice questions so absolutely print that out and take it. Then, remember all those questions cause a couple will be on the actual test!
1 question about common criticism of advertising in which 3 of the 4 answers provided were correct (which I confirmed with the Arens text post-test). I'm not sure what answer was the 1 they were looking for.
There were several (like 5 or 6) questions dealing with Data Collection techniques and the research process. I didn't cover much of this in my studies so I made educated guesses. Questions along the lines of "which method of data collection determines cause and effects?" type thing. Question on internal data, primary data, and secondary data.
Another area I did not cover as well as I would have liked (and saw several questions about) is the concept of pre- and post-testing.
Overall, I did not feel it was a difficult test at all; however, without having a score, it's hard to know if I'm delusional or not. :ack: Time will tell.
Would someone mind tossing this info over to the exam specific area? I don't have access any more since my next couple of tests are TECEPS and IC doesn't have flashcards for those. Thanks a bunch!

Consider it tossed.
(You're taking tests faster than me. I can't allow this.
Time for another chapter of Astronomical Fun!)

Taylor, I just love that you're assuming I passed!!!!! That's the kind of thinking I can get behind.
Ruddigore, I am just trying to catch up on how many more credits you earned on the Lit GRE than I did. By my calculations, I still have a ways to go!
And, by the way - you'll kill the astronomy exam. It won't know what hit it when you're done with it!

I hope so! :willynilly: Most of it is pretty interesting -- plus my best friend is absolutely nuts about Astronomy, so I'll be able to speak his lingo a bit better once I learn everything.
Tell us the news when you get your score. Three more credits in the bag. They say it takes a couple weeks? It's like the English CLEP...or...the GRE! Ugh, that was the longest wait
ever.

Of course you passed, I've never seen such nerdy looking scores in my life. You're so smart you don't even need a calculator, all you need is an abacus. If I ever need to cheat off somebody, I'll make sure to call you
