I would put my money on Sophia being significantly easier and faster to complete.

I would agree. Plus it's free.
The benefit of the ASU course is that it's graded and on an RA transcript - for $99, that's a steal.

I just wish all the classes were available! My daughter is one class away from her associates at the CC and she needs a natural science. ASU's apparently doesn't start until the deal is over. She is planning on CLEP but something imposed from the outside would be a better fit. Plus no CLEP for now!
The community college has typical response when questioned about ACE. Like wha??? What's that? What planet are we on?

Did you check the cc's in the area/state that offer courses online? There are other states that may have a course for the summer session/term. I would try and get that final course done through another cc if possible.
Wait! You know what, you can get an Excelsior Uexcel or a TECEP, ask your cc if they will accept those... these are RA credits, but NOT graded, if keep forgetting, Uexcels might be graded.

An earlier post seems to suggest that only 5 courses would be available, but the individual course pages all list a $99 tuition charge, even those that begin on or after August 18. Doesn't this mean that the deal applies to all of the online courses, as long as they are purchased prior to August 17?

I was the one who posted it earlier and I did think of that. The problem is the courses are no cost upfront (they are waiving the normal $25 fee) and you pay the $100 AFTER you finish the course so that would make all courses starting on 18th ineligible for this deal.
However, since my original post, some additional courses are now offered as self-paced so it is more than 5 but not all of them.

They have added courses to the original list - a self-paced English Comp I course, self-paced Brief Calculus, self-paced Calculus for Engineering, and then some courses that start in June. As of now, I think there are 13 courses on there (and that doesn't include the courses that have already started, like English Comp I which started in mid-March).
