ANY Help with Course Plan for ASBA from TESC, I would appreciate!!!!
#1
Hi, so I posted here a little while ago for some help with the course plan I am taking.

Here is an outline of what TESC requires me to take for the ASBA degree:

i. General Education requirements- 30

A. English Composition- 6

B. Humanities- 6

C. Social Sciences- 9
Must include at least two subject areas
Macroeconomics or Microeconomics (3)
Other social sciences (6)

D. Natural Sciences and Mathematics- 6
Precalculus Mathematics (3)
Other natural sciences/mathematics (3)

E. General Education Electives -3

(I have to take these exact ones)
ii. Management Core- 18
A. Principles of Financial Accounting 3
B. Principles of Managerial Accounting 3
C. Legal Environment for Business 3
D. Principles of Management 3
E. Principles of Marketing 3
F. Introduction to Computers/CIS 3

iii. Business Electives 6

iV. Free Electives 6

Total 60 credits

And I found out about Straighter Line Smile looks promising, however, I had to call TESC to see which courses they will give me credit for. I have finally been able to talk to a Business Admin at TESC, (not to friendly) So now I am trying to re do my course plan to add on some StraighterLine Courses. Its been plus 10 years since I have been in college, so I am really needing help, (and I am a military spouse in England). The rep I talked to at TESC wants me to send her my Course outline with the Straighter Courses I want to take, (that way I will have it in writing, as well as make sure I will get credit for every course I plan on taking, (sounds fair) So here is what my course list looks like

This is the first one I was thinking of doing:

NOW that I found out about Straighter Line I am thinking about changing it to this one:

SL0006 (3) English compostion II SL

Humanities-- need (6)

If someone can think of anything on my course plan that would be better or easier please let me know!!!!! ANY HELP on this is totally appropriated!!!!!

Also if anyone knows which TECEP courses may be easier that would be helpful to, I have to have I think 12 credits, to meet the residency requirement.

I took Eng Comp I & II and Intro to Sociology with SL. I liked the pace and not feeling rushed to write an essay during a time limit. But honestly alot of other posters have taken the Eng CLEP and passed with flying colors. I guess its all about personal preference. Intro to Sociolgy with SL was fine but I highly recommend the book if you go this route as the questions are right from it. ( I rented the EBook version it was like $20 for 3 months or something) But I do hear that Sociology is one of the easier CLEPS so keep that in mind.

FEMA's for sure!!

I'm not sure how good you are at a foreign language but CLEP offers a test for Spanish, French or (maybe german) and you can get either 6-12 credits quickly with that.

Also for the management area, check the TEEX Cyber Security courses they are free and could give you up to 6 credts. I don't know exactly where they would fall in your degree plan but the codes are CIS(4cr) And MAN(2cr) as of now so that may save you a few bucks as well.

College Algebra I would go through ALEKS instead of SL. One its cheaper and you just need to get a 70% one time on the assessment and you are done. I knocked that one out in one day.

Adding to what chiquitacobbe has said about ALEKS I would take Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra and Trigonometry with them. Trigonometry also fulfills the Precalculus requirement at TESC, but if you would prefer to do Precalculus then do that with them anyway. The other two classes are lower than Precalculus, so you may as well pick them up along the way and that will be your Natural Science/Mathematics and General Education knocked out for $20 if you can do them in a month or less. If you plan to do the BSBA at some point in the future, and move through ALEKS fast, then you can always complete Statistics with ALEKS too and have it applied as a Free Elective in your ASBA - it is a requirement for the BSBA.

My bad AlbaTivo, I meant Beginning Algebra but after doing some additional searching here I found that it transfers as MAT-102 in General Education requirements.

I think that list is out of date as I believe Beginning Algebra is no longer accepted and all three of the statistics courses transfer as STA201 now.

What AlbaTivo said is true. Beginning Algebra is considered developmental. The lowest math they'll accept is Intermediate Algebra. Unfortunately, all three statistics classes are transcribed the same now. Business Statistics used to be Operations Management.

Thanks AlabaTiVo and sanantone! I just found that on here and was hoping for the best. I hate classes that duplicate credit especially if they seem to be different. But who am I to make that decision? We are overpowered by higher powers at these Colleges. LOL

I don't like the fact that different classes
