ALEKS to CCAF
#21

For anyone looking for a quick and effective way to knock out the Math requirement for the CCAF, I'd HIGHLY recommend looking into the Straighterline Math. I can say with great confidence that my CCAF mission is complete. If you need any details about the Straighterline to CCAF process, please shoot me a PM. Thank you for your time! :hurray:

Is it possible that you'd share the highlights here? This thread is very helpful to many, I'm sure!

Of course! hilarious If there are any specific questions about the process, please, you can ask in this forum or via PM! Please, read through this entire thread because there's a few mistakes that I made that others can learn from. ( Save Money, too!) Cheers! Tatty-bye!

I would very much like to know what process you used. I could ask via PM but what about the next person who comes along after you no longer visit this board?

My plan is to use ALEKS to learn enough Intermediate/College Algebra to pass the College Math CLEP ASAP. I want to sprint through it within 4 weeks because math (along with A&I which I'm about to take) is my last requirement. Problem is I spent 2-3 months (slowly) going through a "review" of College Algebra book and then realized it got into areas I never touched in high school -- conics and such. So I threw it aside and moved on to other CLEPs. Now I want to knock out whatever math I need to in order to bag the CCAF in the shortest time possible, and then move on to higher-level math on my own pace.

Any advice you can give re: Straighterline-to-CCAF vs ALEKS-to-CLEP-to-CCAF is appreciated.

Straighterline was my choice for math. I had no math for over 20 years, studied (not long) and completed the course from Straighterline in about a week. I had enrolled at Fort Hayes first and they transcribed my Straighterline course with a letter grade (as if I had taken the course with them). My community college transferred the Fort Hayes transcript in (as if I had taken the course at that school) because that is how it was presented. This enabled me to get my A.S. by meeting my college math requirement.

No problem! The easiest way to knock out the CCAF is definitely by knocking out Straighterline College Algebra. Just as frankie mentions above, the process is simple. The SL Algebra course is self-paced; however, the tests are timed. If you take your time going through the lessons, I'm sure the tests won't be hard. I was able to complete this course in a few days. Smile Good luck. I apologize for the tardy response as I'm in Afghanistan and the internet isn't the most reliable..

So, can I ask a question just to be clear? CCAF does not accept ALEKS credit via ACE, is that correct?

That's 100% correct. CCAF will NOT accept ANY General Education credits through ACE. This was confirmed by a SSgt (CCAF insider) who works at the CCAF in good ol Montgomery, Alabama. Most of this thread has my experiences with the process and is meant to help others NOT make the same mistake.

For those who are new and considering ALEKS to CCAF, I implore you to explore the SL route. I've read a recent article on the forums stating SL will no longer allow the SL->FHSU credit wash, so it's best to check with the other SL partner schools that will both allow it and is accepted by the CCAF. I apologize for the little time-skip with the progress, but to summarize, CCAF did not take ALEKS on the Ace Transcript. Afterwards, I tried going the ALEKS-> FHSU route and the credits were deemed nontransferable. Next, I had the ALEKS classes credit-banked at TESC and then transferred to the CCAF ($250) and that didn't work! Finally, I decided to embark on the SL->FHSU -> CCAF journey and it worked like a charm. I really hope this thread helps people in the future. I don't mind the wasted time because it'll only help folks out down the line! Cheers and Tatty-bye!

A follow up question, was there a reason to not try SL-->CCAF first before running through FHSU? Just curious.
