One additional question about ALEKS: I'm considering using ALEKS for homeschooling my daughter who starts high school this year. I can't observe her constantly. How can I know if she is actually doing the work and not getting external math help? Does ALEKS have any checks in place? I think if she was going to get external help, she would already be doing so as she struggles a bit. Thank goodness she wants to learn and is honest.

No way to make sure they're not cheating. The actual problems are on the internet a lot of the time.

Thank you Dfrecore. She knows how to looks up the answers to math problems. I guess I should force weekly tests on paper and she must test in the presence of an adult.

Since time is of the essence in this situation - because ACE's approval of ALEKS courses expires in less than 60 days - I should verify this with or ACE or ALEKS to ensure the policy is current. I don't want to spend excessive time on the initial assessment in order to score >70% and then find out I need to complete another assessment in order to get credit.
Anyone pass the initial assessment and request credit in the past few months - since ACE re-approved these ALEKS courses?
I just got a 72 on the Intro to Stats assessment on Thursday. It was on my ACE transcript within an hour. Two weeks before that I did the same with College Algebra. I will be doing the same with Trig once I'm up to speed (hate trig)
If you plan on taking Intro to Stats (which is pretty freaking hard) I would recommend watching youtube videos by John Wood. He teaches you how to use the Aleks calculator which is gold.

Thank you Bezzina. Great tip. I will definitely check John Wood. I know Stats will be super difficult as I have little experience with it.
I have to ask, how did you get credit for ALEKS' College Algebra? The ACE website is showing College Algebra is not currently ACE-approved.
Also, are you planning to attend TESU? Are College Algebra and Trig considered duplicate courses at TESU? It would be great if I could get credit for College Algebra, Trig & a Stats course.
Thank you!

College Algebra is currently ACE approved through 7/31/18. I just pulled it up to check.
College Algebra comes in as MAT-121, Precalculus comes in as MAT-129, and Stats comes in as STA-201. Not sure what College Algebra with Trig or Trig comes in as, you might want to check with TESU before completing those to find out what is considered duplicate (or what their current course equivalencies are). I do know that on ACE itself, a new note has been added to Precalculus that says "Students may not received credit for both this course and College Algebra with Trigonometry."
Also, with TESU now getting more aligned with ACE, it's interesting to note that both Business Stats and Stats for the Behavioral Sciences are UL. I'm wondering if you took Intro to Stats and then one of the other stats, if TESU would give you LL and UL credit (and not count them as duplicates). Someone should do that are report back to see if it works.

I'm glad you checked and posted the correction info. I swear I had checked this a dozen times over the last few days. My mistake as it is Intermediate Algebra that is not ACE approved. I wonder if I contact ALEKS tomorrow morning if they will let me switch to College Algebra as I have not done any work on College Albegra/Trig using the new account.

Double kudos! If I can get through Intro to Stats & have time, I may petition TESU to accept Bus Stats for UL credit.

Dfrecore, we've quote each other so much, I can't seem to follow as I cannot seem to locate your last reply in the above post. Maybe I should go to sleep and start fresh in the morning. Thank you so much for helping!

Unless something has changed, College Algebra w/Trig comes in as MAT-129, the same as Precalculus or Trigonometry on their own.
