I received the following email from ALEKS last night--
Quote:This is the information we were just given today:
ALEKS ACE Credit-Recommended courses are currently under review by ACE with an expected completion date on or before December 31, 2013. Pending approval, ACE will award transcripts for eligible ALEKS courses completed in 2013 and beyond.
Thank you,

So, it sounds like they are still in the process of being approved for accreditation, but expect to be approved by 12/31/13. However, even courses that aren't approved as of today will still be recognized for credit once they are re-accredited. This isn't to say that ACE couldn't screw things up by requiring a proctor on finals or something, but it does look like ALEKS is definitely getting re-accredited.

THANKS DAITHI! I just replied to another post on here and this post seems to echo my thoughts on what I think ALEK's will do for people that pass the course in November.
Here's the deal. I am using ALEK's as a back up plan, but hey, if they have ACE certification BEFORE December 2012, that would be great. If not, I plan on taking the College Math CLEP anyway.
This was helpful information.
Thanks!

This is good news. I just noticed this yesterday (that they weren't ACE anymore). I ended up signing up anyway, without the ACE, because it's a good price and I can get through some of the things I need. If they get ACE before month end, that'll be a double-win for me but even if they don't get it back it's still $20 to my math stuff done!

It's important NOT TO FINISH your course until the approval is finalized. If you complete now, it will be during their period of accredited status and you may be denied credit. This is not a certainty, however I'm more than 90% confident that the process will be handled that way. There could be a grace period via ACE renewal procedures that they have arranged with ALEKS, however, unless we KNOW that there is, hold tight on passing that last assessment!

The ACE website says "Pending a successful outcome, credit would be made available for learners effective November 1, 2013."

In the last month I have completed Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trig and Intro to Statistics.
I'm hoping they will get approved again and the statement on the ACE website is correct.

FYI, beginning algebra doesn't count for credit at TESC. Just wanted to let you know in case you were planning that into your degree plan.
As I said before if ALEKS gets re-approved, the message clearly says they will back date the approval.

Thanks for the info, I took the beginning to get back into math, it's been a long time since I studied anything

I'm in the same boat. My math skills are severely lacking so I'm doing ALEKS from the beginning to get me up to speed. If I can transfer in college algebra, great, if not, it's no loss because I still needed that knowledge.
