For a
BA in Psych at TESC, Statistics is required. Anyone have confirmation that
ALEKS Intro to Stats or Stats for Behavioral Sciences meets this requirement?

from what i read in previous post i believe all three stats courses overlap. so you can only take one. tesc will grant the same course which is sta 201 for all of them.

It really wouldn't make a difference which one you take as they are both coded exactly the same STA-201 Principles of Statistics (at least on my transcript). The one that is coded different is business statistics.
For a Psy major I would take the stats for behavioral sci because the questions are worded differently and will complement language used in other psy courses. I majored in soc sci and have worked in clnical research for a season and find using similar terns helps to digest infomation faster.

Why not just take the Principles of Statistics DSST and be sure? That's what I plan to do -- ALEKS to learn it, DSST to ensure I have portable credit. I also plan to ALEKS all the way through Pre-Calculus, then take the Pre-Calculus CLEP to make it portable just in case.
Or am I missing something? Is it simply a matter of not spending the extra $100 or so? If so that's totally understandable. I just want to be sure I'm not missing some super-secret strategy...

dcan,
I'm not sure what you mean by portable credit. I used aleks for 21 math credits. A monthly fee of $20 plus $40 ACE credit transfer so thats 21 credits for $60 (actually 18 because two of the stats courses duplicated). The credits are evaluated and added as CR the same as if I had taken dantes exams.

Wait so did TESC accept your Beg. Algebra? If so how recent was this? I have been hearing all over that they do not accept that course any more for credit. Please let me know. Thanks

emichele20,
I took my aleks courses back in 11/09 so yes it counted for me. I've seen the same on the boards its now considered developmental. But you can still use intermediate algebra and it covers the math requirement on most liberal arts degrees. For BSBA you will need precalculus and can then use intermediate and college algebra for gen ed credit.

oh crap, i thought they they changed it again. its really for my DH. He completed the Beg Alg, Interm Algebra, and College Algebra. He's taking the trig which will count for Precalc at TESC. I have already taken all of them myself for my degree plan so I am ok.

Not sure what you thought they changed? Is it being able to use begininning algebra again as gened credit? All you can do is wait to see what they do with the evaluation. I have my fingers crossed for you/him.
