ACE not consistent
#1
Ok, I just checked out the web site for ACE and which companies or schools they evaluate credit for. I seen this before. I notice that DELTA AIRLINES is the only airlines in the list I see pertaining to having all their courses evaluated. My guess is that at some time, DELTA had their courses looked into by Ace, paid the fees, money or whatever, and they got it done. The other airlines didn't see fit to do this for whatever reason, maybe not wanting to spend money in this.
I doubt DELTA and UAL or other airlines differ in training. I had posted my training here earlier, and I bet you can find most of those courses the exact same that Delta has.
So why didn't ACE approve this for other airlines? It's all because the other airlines never put in to having an ACE representative come out and do an assessment by analyzing the course material. There is a fee involved in getting it "stamped" by ACE.
I remember one time I tried to send an instructror an email about it, but never heard back. When I saw him later as I was attending one of his other classes, he mentioned that he got the email, but doubted that anything would happen as far as the airline doing anything to have its course material evaluated for credits. Which cost money.
So all in all, it isn't lost. If you have an FAA license, Ace recommends about 72 credits. My guess is that DELTA must have submitted for this Ace approval before Ace recommended the credits for AirFrame and PowerPland technicians. Maybe it helps the guy that never had a license and somehow took these courses and was now able to document something for college credits. I see Delta had alot of unrelated aviation maintenance courses too.
Another observation is WHERE IS MCI? Marine Corps Institute?

Companies have to apply for the ACE review....otherwise how would ACE ever track down all the training in the world and assess it. There is a cost associated, and while it isn't really all that much money I don't think every employer is going to see enough benefit to apply, spend the cash, and maintain the certification.

I thought all the service members got a SMART these days?

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Smart started like in the 1990's. Those having got out of the military prior to like 1995 or something like that would have to submit information to have it installed in the Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript (SMART) system. I got out of the Marines in 1988. (Total six year obligation then, and active 82-85 with 3 years in IRR.) No such thing happening when I was in.
Therefore, I submitted information to construct a record of my education while I was in the military. That included my military evaluated training for credits that Ace recommended, plus my Associates of Arts I got while in. 1982-88. I cannot submit airline training received some 8 years later to the present to SMARTS. Maybe I should try, however, company training is not ACE evaluated. My FAA license is. Maybe I should ask SMARTS if they can somehow submit it into that just because. Maybe they can tweek a minor adjustment. What say you?

I see what you are saying....I think for your purposes its a useless exercise though. Your FAA license is gonna give you all the credits in profession that you need. Supporting FEMA you already have is plenty of free electives. Unless the Marines taught you Physics 1 and 2 or Chemistry there is no point to this.

I'm not the military expert...but I think the programs used to be evaluated by ACE, and they now have a new system...it seems uncle Same does a fair job seeing its armed forces get credit where its available/valued.

I understand the Air Force does it best with CCAF.

If you can find a place like CCAF or ACE that awards credit for something similar to what you have TESC might award you the credit...but again, why spin your wheels?

As you can see, SMARTS is pretty strict on what you can put in your transcripts. Not meant for other colleges beyond military life. It was really designed to convert certain training into ace evaluated credits. Most military personell probably average around not more than a few credits unless they took on a high tech field or so. Or did college while in is when the service pays off. I was told you could submit PRE-MILITARY college courses in SMARTS or DURING military service which is what I did. I had some prior military college like a year, and finished it while in.

I just thought it would be nice to have the FAA license in the system somehow with SMARTS because, what does this mean? Now, I have to go and get my FAA license notarized and sent to TESC. Whereas, if it was in SMARTS system, that's an official transcript, and saves me the hassle. That's all I wanted it for really. Just would have saved me the extra couple of steps. Drive to the bank, find a notary, get it notarized, mail it off. Make copy of it. In fact, SMARTS would have saved me SEVERAL steps.
