A question about Excelsior's credit bank.
#1
I'm interested in learning about Excelsior's credit bank, how it works and the fees associated with the credit bank. Problem is, during my inquiry (apparently you need to create an account on their website), the website asked for my social security number, and I was a bit apprehensive about giving it away...

I would also like to know if it's possible to accumulate 60 credits through the credit bank by taking only CLEP and DSST exams. Can this be done?

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

A credit bank is a way to consolidate all of your transcripts onto one transcript. The price I found in 2008 for Excelsior's credit bank is $270 for the initial transcript. Apparently, there are fees as you add more credit after that. I doubt there is a limit on how many credits you can have on this.

CLEP and DSST will keep your credits on a transcript for you for 20 years and you can request them for just $20, when you are ready to apply/enroll in a degree program.

From what I have read on the forum about TESC credit bank, it is rarely a necessary expense, especially if you are planning to complete a degree. (You'll have 60 credits, so you should be close.)

If you tell us more about your situation, we may be able to lead you toward the best option for you. For instance, getting your credits on a local community college transcript could be less expensive.

Here are some posts that may help:

This post says that TESC's credit bank account is only valid for 1 year. I have not seen the same about EC, but I don't know.
