First, I went through the course too fast. They said I needed to wrestle through the discussion of peers. In other words I need to wait for other people, taking this class over 5 weeks, to catch up and post something.

Second, I HAVE to finish EVERY assignment. Even though I had a 95 average, and got an A- on the finial, I have to submit the powerpoint presentation and the research paper (originally I just accepted a 0 for both, being that each were only 5% of my grade, and received a B for the class).

Third, because I was already accepted at TESC, I was not allowed to take any further classes. If I did choose to take further classes it'd be 299$ a class. However, they did say they'd transfer the COM class free of charge to TESC.

And that's about it. It's been a frustrating journey. When they say it's a "self paced course", they mean that you can do the course in a minimum of 4 to 5 week, and a maximum of 8 weeks. I did the course in 72 hours, which (apparently) is NOT acceptable.

Let me know if you guys have any more questions.

Interesting, thanks for posting. Very helpful to know all of this.

Did they say what would happen if no one else posted any discussion info out there?? It's conceivable for that to happen. When I took an online course, the instructor was instrumental in starting the online discussions, I can't imagine what we would have posted if he didn't start it. Can you go on and post for each section/chapter (whatever they want you to do), then wait for others to comment and be notified so you can respond??

Also, does this mean that you won't get a grade and get to move onto a new course until at least 5 weeks is passed? And did they say which courses you can take next? Do you get to choose your courses, or do they assign them in a particular order?

I guess you could just wait out the 5 weeks get a zero on discussions and upload blank papers and power points for a zero.

I finally got a response from DreamDegree today (submitted it via email on 9/17). Better late than never I suppose.

So that was fast! I got an email back with what seems like a form letter/auto enrollment into their COM 110 Interpersonal Communication class.

Not the class that I signed up for.

Not even sure I need it. I need to fill a Business Communications class, and not sure if this will do. Hmmmm.

So do they really have any other classes? lol!

GradSchool1234 Wrote:Okay, I have now finished the COMM 110 class. It took about 15 to 20 hours of work. Now I will verify if they do in fact offer other courses.

A quick review of the course:

All the tests were straight out of the reading, and the reading was very easy to understand. I honestly just skimmed it and could get a B on most tests. This course involves a good deal of writing though. I had to write maybe 7 to 10 300 word descriptions of various topics. The course also required a 3 to 4 page paper and a powerpoint presentation, but I decided to take a 0 for both of these as together they only accounted for 10% of my grade. All in all, I came out with a B, and finish the class with roughly 15 hours of work. It was an interesting topic, and I honestly enjoyed the experience more than blank studying facts for say a CLEP or DSST test.

Every person who has managed to sign up with them has had to take that course first. No other options apparently. If you don't need it, bummer, because that's the one you get! I haven't heard back from anyone to say whether they've received the credits in their ACE account, or whether they've taken any additional courses. Also haven't heard if you can choose your next course, or if you're stuck there as well with what they choose for you. I guess if you have nothing, it might be useful, but most on here want specific courses.

Please post and let us know what happens after you take the course (if you take it).
