As someone who has been very involved in politics for many years and whom volunteered for the Republicans during the primaries, I have been saddened by the inept running of the Mccain campaign and therefore can not vote for someone who even though he had his party nomination 6 months before has no real message . It's a darn shame, mccain has not given me a reason to vote for him, only a reason not to vote for Obama and that my "friends" is weak.

Anyway, the president has very limited powers, so there will be only so much Obama will be able to do under the consitution and to tell you the truth I would rather take my chances with someone with an high IQ about issues than with an idealist, because the latter is always slow to see the bigger picture.

Now, I'll wait for the real republicans to ressurect the party and dump these fakers out.

I used to call myself a Republican. Now days I am just a Conservative because the GOP has let me and the rest of America down. I agree, McCain's campaign has been pitiful and he inspires know one. That being said, I will vote for him because I disagree with Obama on 99.9pct of every issue and one of them will be the next president. The president does only have partial control but Obama may get what George Bush never had, a majority big enough that there can be no filabuster. For those that say Bush never accomplished anything with a Republican Congress, it's because on any of the big issues, there was always a Democratic filibuster to keep it from passing.

dc7 remember that for the first 6 years of the Bush aminstration the Rep had both house and senate and what did bush do, He signed every single bills that crossed his desk. These guys have destroyed the Rep party, including some of these talk radio programs like Hannity. The party base is shrinking and it's because the republican party has forsake the conservative principles. And if the current trend continues, the party will be lost in 20 years. The party to be honest has given the impression as if it only caters to big business needs. A great opportunity has been squandered over the past 8 years, because the average salary for the middle class has actually shrunk while the top 5% has increase significantly, those are facts.

Now the arguement may be that if we increase taxes on the rich the economy will not grow, however, imperical data show otherwise and that's an arguement I can have with anyone with the actually numbers to show otherwise. Am I saying that we should levy high taxes on people, ofcourse not, but we will have to balance the budget and pay off our debt at some point.

However, the spending that Obama is proposing is absurd, but Mccain is right behind him. If we all believe in the free market, then we should allow it to run with-out bailing out these companies including the so-called big three automakers, no more tax payers money to any of them, allow the free market to work.

The truth is there is no such thing as free market economics, because through out our history the Federal Gov has intervene over and over again and further more this progressive tax system is already unfair and socialistic, because we are already taxed for being more productive.

I kind of figured...but I have heard much more absurd statements from McCain and his campaign, so I was just checking Wink I don't want to even think about what would have to happen for Bush to look like a prophet, but I would think if anything we would see it if Sarah Palin became President...

Although McCain's campaign has appeared to be less than stellar, it would be impossible to compete with Obama's rhetoric. He is a master of manipulation and that will come around to bite this country in arse. He has the mainstream media in bed with him. They are functioning as his campaign headquarters. I truly can not understand how people do not see through his lawyer-ese. He is telling you what you want to hear, threading some truth into his BS. People are not looking beyond the surface. He has been so shady about his past and his voting record and people just accept him at face value.

What the media has done to Joe the plumber and Sarah Palin is downright embarassing and actually quite scary. Joe the P. asked a simple question, he was not combative, he did not seek Obama out. Obama was campaigning in his neighborhood and Joe asked a question about how Obama's tax policy would affect him. They have investigated him leaving no stone unturned. They are trying to dig up any dirt they can to discredit him and don't think for a minute that Obama's people aren't behind that. And if anyone is not disgusted with the treatment of Palin, regardless of who your candidate is, then I can't understand where your sense of decency is. He is not the kind of person I want to run this country. His handsome appearance and slick talk make a nice package but I am truly concerned about what lies beneath the exterior.

 I wanted since the beginning for Romney to become President and after Mccain won I wanted Mccain to choose Romney for VP. Didn't happen and I'm pissed but I refuse to vote for OBAMA. He's an open book and its obvious what he's about and his ties with others.
BTW he just moved his 250k tax idea which was insane in my opinion to now 150k and rumors he will bring it down to below 100k. The average joe will be hit. Only the people on welfare will be safe.

I heard on the radio yesterday that a person in Hillary's camp has come out and divulged some dirty little secrets. She said they had, at the ready, devastating smear campaigns for Romney and all the other VP hopefuls. When McCain announced Sarah Palin would be his running mate, they were floored and "majorly" caught off guard.

I tell you what, I would love to see Biden stand up to the attacks and smear tactics Palin has faced. He puts his foot in his mouth even though the media treats him with kid gloves. She has fared remarkably well considering the vicious attacks she has had to face.
