When the UExcel beta testing began, we were informed that scores would be available in Fall 2008. The UExcel website specifically stated that scores would be available within four weeks after taking the test.
Since then, the beta testing period has been extended a couple of times. Currently, beta testing for the UExcel exams is available through January 31, 2009.
I took UExcel Psych & Poli Sci (I already have Calculus credits, and I wouldn't stand a chance with Physics) last September. I did so under the belief--per the emails I had received from Excelsior--that beta testing would only run through September 30, 2008.
A couple of days ago, I emailed Excelsior to check on the status of my scores. Today, I received the following response from info@uexceltest.com from Hassam (no last name given):
Quote:We are expecting grades to be available during the beginning of 2009. The grades are determined by using statistical data we receive from test takers. Therefore, we need to end the beta period before we can officially give you a final grade and transcript.
I checked the website, UExcel - Transcripts & Credit, which now states:
Quote:You will receive further information on how to access your grade when official grades are available (estimated Spring 2009).
I am, to say the least, a little irritated at this. I had expected better from Excelsior than this. I just wanted to inform--and forewarn--others who are also awaiting their results.

It is not a finished product, neither was their a cost. There is nothing to complain about imo.

I believe that my feelings of discontent are justified, and I'm sorry that you felt it necessary to rebuke me for that. When the beta testing began, we were informed that scores would be available within four months of taking the exams. This was explicitly stated in the emails that UExcel sent. Some of us took time off from our lives--in my case, I had to use a vacation day from work--in order to drive a couple hundred miles to take the exams. Now, the credits won't be available when they were promised, which some of us had depended upon. In fact, the scores won't even be available until half a year later than UExcel had told us. As a result, I personally won't receive scores for exams I took last September until AFTER I graduate next year. In other words, I wasted my time, a lot of gasoline, and an entire vacation day as a direct result of Excelsior's false pretenses. I am sure that I'm not the only person who was depending upon Excelsior honoring their claims and providing the results when promised. Excelsior's misrepresentation was unprofessional and inconsiderate, and should certainly justify an expression of unpleasant sentiment.

Thanks for the warning. I just scheduled one for late Nov and would hate to wait 6 months for results (IF they are in fact available by spring).
You are right in being angry about what happened to you even though there was no cost for the test because they did state that you would have a score by now.

Just Curious, is your status report at least showing that you passed or failed the exams?

Thank you for the understanding. Good luck with the exam.

I'd be upset too!!
I was scheduled for Poli Sci in Nov but had to reschedule and it put me in December.
I wonder if they are extending it b/c they don't have enough participants? Or are tweaking as they go?

I deliberated long and hard as to whether I wanted to take these exams. In the end, I decided to enroll at COSC, which made the whole thing moot. If I HAD enrolled at EC and I HAD taken the exams, I would be as furious as you are. (And it wouldn't have cost me a vacation day or a long drive, either.) EC is getting the value of your statistical data with no benefit to you. Sounds like they win, you lose on this transaction. I just hope you're not so mad that you get discouraged from pressing forward toward graduation. Good luck.
