2 weeks from now I shall attempt my 7th test. Princples of Marketing. I have read all the comments on how easy it is, and have seen all the 70s. But I shall not fall for that a 7th time no no. I am going to study study study.
I have a feeling this is going to be the first one I pass Big Grin All of the ones I failed have been by 1-2pts everytime. No more no less :\

Also, I hope I made E-4

That is all Smile

Any test pointers? I always find my self horribly sleepy when I get halfway through regardless of sleep or caffeine.

Concentrate your entire being on testing. There is nothing but you and the exam during that brief 90 minutes. During the test, go into the greatest mode of focus you can muster.

Caffeine is overrated. Big Grin Sleep isn't, though.

If theres a thread for 0% pass rate I will make sure to post Sad

I dont blame IC at all though. You cant argue with the pas rate on here. I just need to find my grove. Its pretty hard sometime tho. When I fail especally by 1 point its a real low blow

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (really i do) but if you've failed 6 times, maybe testing isn't for you.

unless your taking the exams free of charge, i'd recommend you get at least a 75-80 on the petersen's exam before attempting a clep.

again, i hate to be negative but everything ain't for everybody. I can't pass a math class to save my life, but cleps come easy to me. everybodies different.

How long do you study for? If you are continuously coming up 1-2 points short then you are clearly able to pass. I would add an extra week to whatever time course you've been doing. Also, because your margin of fail is so slim, I would also maximize the entire 2 hours of test time. Double check, triple check... wait until the clock reaches zero. If you are getting sleepy during the tests you are probably too anxious and burn yourself out right away. Just take one question at a time, answer it or mark it, and move on. Question 93 is worth just as much as Question 1. Cold and unemotional... that is the best way to take a test.

And let me add, I NEVER take caffeine before a test. It tends to give you a quick spike of energy, followed by a lull. The test is a marathon, not a sprint.

That's hard to stomach. Been there done that. I faliled my first 3 cleps also, but I passed on my 4th attempt. In my case I went into 2 of them cold (almost passed) and the other one I failed with studying (almost passed). Maybe, you should balance classes and cleps that way it relieves some pressure of relying on exams to get credit? I'm taking 3 classes (12 credits), passed a Law Enforcement DSST (3 credits), and just completed Beginning Algebra through Aleks (3 credits) which will give me at least 18 credits before the semester ends, but I'm hoping I can get 6 more credits in through testing and Aleks. Good luck and listen to your gut. If you feel you're not ready, you're probably not.

I have studied from 2weeks to 4 weeks.

The only one I was really bummed about was astronomy. I enjoyed reading and learning then When I saw 399/400. It hurt the most

and now I just found out I missed E-4 by 1 points.. I think I am just a 1 point failure

try taking Dantes tests if possible. Less answers to choose from than clep and 30 minutes longer allowed

If you are how are you doing on them? If you are not you should be. For active service they are free and there are lots of them for both CLEP and DSST. Most testers suggest at least 60% on Petersen's before trying the real thing.

Also are you putting sugar in your coffee? That can also cause an initial burst of energy then a drop that can make you tired. I have problems with low blood sugar and find I can get really tired mid test, i take 3-5 min to deep breath and relax then get back to the test, this is sometimes enough to help me refocus.

There are lots of testing suggestions on here, I find going through the test 1st and just answering the ones I know and marking others gets me through about half. Sometimes after reading a later question it helps me remember the answer to one I had skipped. Then I go back and do the harder ones marking the ones I am least sure of. finally i take the total amount of time to go back and recheck the ones I marked.
