Help Me Choose Which Natural Science Exam to Take |

I will be enrolling at TESC in January and have received my academic evaluation. I have to take 6 credits in Natural Sciences and I'd like to test out of them. I have never taken a CLEP or DANTES exam before, but I have narrowed it down to 4 choices. For all of your pros, please help me to decide which to take. I'm really not that great with Natural Sciences or Mathematics, so the subject that is geared more towards non-Science degrees would be my preference.
Here are my choices:
CLEP
BIO-111/112-CE Biology- 6 credits or NAS-101/102-CE Natural Sciences- 6 credits
DSST (I'd have to take both of these)
COS-101-DE Introduction to Computing- 3 credits
ENS-201-DE Environment and Humanity: The Race to Save the Planet- 3 credits
TIA for your feedback!

TESC evaluation received! |

I just checked the TESC website (I have been doing this daily--can you tell I've been anxious for my evaluation?hilarious) and finally an evaluation has appeared!
Be still my beating heart--for a BALS I need only (drum roll please...) 9 hours of free electives to finish my degree!
For fun, I used the handy-dandy "what if I change programs" thingy and if I decided to get a BA in Humanities I would only need 3 hours of Humanities (they recommend their LIB-495 class) and 6 hours of free electives!
I see some FEMA classes in my future. A little something to do while the hubby is busy watching football during the weekend.
Thanks to everyone here for the wealth of information you provide. I don't know that I would ever have gotten this far without your help.

InstantCert Love |

I just wanted to give InstantCert some love, in particular this discussion board. I graduated a little over two years ago from Excelsior College. I used InstantCert to successfully pass 24 Cleps, DSST, Excelsior exams. I past each exam the first time I took it. There is no way I could have done it without InstantCert. Since graduating, I used my degree to get into a teaching credential program. I finished my credential and am now teaching! I love it. I am a career changer. InstantCert was perfect for me as it allowed me to continue to work while finishing my degree. So, if you come across this post and have any reservations about jumping into the testing world. Jump, it is the best decision I've made.

Getting a pre-teen to FOCUS |

I thought I'd post about this here since it seems a lot of members of this forum homeschool their children... or at the very least, definitely know a thing or two about concentration.
My stepdaughter is 12 and in the seventh grade. Her grades have been slipping the last several years and it seems to be really hitting rock bottom lately. She's not a stupid girl by any means, but I know that when I'm working with her, getting her to pay attention to anything school-related is almost impossible. When I actually can grasp her attention for a few moments, she picks up very quickly, but she rather sit there and pretend that she's dumb a lot of times than listen to what I'm saying.
I know this isn't unusual behavior for a child, but I'd love to know if anyone here has a good ideas on how to increase attention span, any sort of program perhaps or something that not incredibly tedious that she might actually enjoy doing. I've been getting her to read books a lot more lately, which I think helps a little bit, but I'd like to see what else anyone has done that they've found to be effective!
Thanks in advance!

I emailed excelsior in regards to new requirements
for the focus on the Bachelor of Science Liberal Studies.
I was told a student must have a focus in 21 credits in
EITHER an applied science OR arts and sciences with
a minimum of 6 upper credits. The previous program
required a minimum of 12 credits in both applied sciences
AND arts and science with at least 3 upper credits in each.
I talked to an advisor and she didn't have any updated
Information. The material on their website has not been
updated.
Does any body know about this change?

i am faced with 2 choices for my 2nd concentration.
Psychology by testing
for Psychology, maybe
ECE 355=Psychology of Adulthood & Aging* 3.0 / U
ECE 356=Research Methods in Psychology* 3.0 / U
ECE 357=Social Psychology** 3.0 / U
ECE 459=Abnormal Psychology* * 3.0 / U
Or
History
DSST: Civil War and Reconstruction
DSST: Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union*
ECE 215 World conflicts since 1900
(i have another LL history course already taken)
Reading HISTORY is boring but which of exams are more bearable. ECE or DSST.
I will use that to choose my path. I just want this whole degree D-O-N-E asap!

Hi Clep fam!!
I am soo grateful for every comment and review of clep courses! I will be Lord willing done with my TESC BA journey next month!! It has taken me a little under two years and almost 5k in total clep/dsst/straighterline ext!!!
I am interested in the generous tuition reimbursement program Verizon offers. For those of you that don't know, they offer tuition assistance starting day one and its 4k a year for part time employees and 8k for ft!!
I am having a really heard time finding out if Verizon has a time commitment requirement in their tuition assistance policy. I know most companies require at least a year of employment w/ Verizon after receiving assistance.
Any information much appreciated!

SL's email to me today identifies Albany State (GA) as a new partner. When you go down the list, you'll see they don't accept everything, but they do offer letter grades like crazy! P.S. Just so any of you don't get any crazy ideas about completing a degree with them, they charge $900 per credit ;p Yes, that's $108,000 BEFORE room and textbooks. At about $100 per class for books, that's another 4ish grand, plus they charge $3500 per SEMESTER for housing... (times eight, carry the one.....) holy smokes that's expensive. $140,000 for an undergrad degree.
They have only 1 undergrad fully online program (business).
