TESC BA in International Studies..
#1
Hello, I am new to this forum and wanted to ask you guys since there is so much knowledge among the people in here. So I transferred to TESC for their BA in International Studies. I have 39 credits left and I will finally be done, but I want to know what is the fastest and easiest way. I know they have online classes, but I just dont want to take 12 week classes. From what I've read and heard, TESC is good with you taking the same class from another college but have to have prior approval. Majority of the classes, I cannot test out of from what I know. Below is my academic evaluation, so you have a better understanding of where I am coming from. Thank you.

There are actually quite a few courses you can test out of or complete through ACE-approved Penn Foster courses. You can take Cultural Diversity through Penn Foster or take the Excelsior Exam. Penn Foster has an International Relations, Terrorism, and International Business course. There is also a World Conflicts since 1900 Excelsior Exam. I'm not sure if the World Population ECE would count, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Ask a TESC advisor to pre-approve all of these courses and exams.

These DSST exams might work looking at the credit distribution page.

ANT-101-DE General Anthropology
GOG-120-DE Human/Cultural Geography
HIS-222-DE Western Europe since 1945
HIS-309-DE An Introduction to the Modern Middle East
HIS-351-DE A History of the Vietnam War
REL-405-DE Introduction to World Religions

These CLEP exams might work.

Thanks for taking your time to reply to my post. I will generate a list of courses from the list you posted and get them pre-approved from an advisor before starting to study them. I know I still need to complete 9 credit hours for residency requirements so I wont be able to test out all of them unless they have some TECEPs in the subjects I need. Or I can do the Guided Study courses if they have any I need. What would you recommend studying for these tests, as in which sources are the most reliable for your chances of passing the test is high depending on how much time you put in? Thank you.

Are you doing the military tuition plan? I thought there was an 18-hour residency requirement for that, but I'm really not familiar with it. Or did you already complete some TESC courses? Unless you're doing that plan, the only required TESC course is the liberal arts capstone.

I have no study recommendations for most of those exams. The members here love to use REA books and Free Clep Prep.com has good suggestions for most exams. I like using the Instantcert flashcards if they're available. For Western Civilization, I recommend this video series. Resource: The Western Tradition These videos might help with cultural geography and anthropology.

Yes, I am doing the military tuition assistance and I need 18sh to meet the residency requirements. I have already done 9sh for my AA through them so now need 9sh for BA. I did the 9sh by taking the TECEP exams. After viewing what you have said, I plan on doing my 9sh through them so I can receive the degree but the rest I will see if the advisor will approve for CLEP/DANTES/TECEP/Excelsior. I have never taken any Excelsior exams, so need to check that out. Are they similar to CLEP/DANTES or TECEPs? As in requesting to have them proctored at your local education center. Thanks for the info for the study material, definitely need to hit it hard so I can pass the test. How good is instantcert campared to the actual test?
