AWESOME this is a great site I have registered for one of the classes and this is going to be a huge assistance to doing great on the CLEP. You can take a whole course for free and there are full videos, video transcripts, and textbook, and powerpoint slides.

I am not sure if it is providing any work like homework etc but there is a discussion although does not appear to be well structured, just a lot of popel say "hi I'm taking this course", maybe this will change as the class goes on? Don't know.

There is a professor for the course but I do not know if they are available to contact or not.

Update: just saw there are also sample CLEP questions.

This is a GREAT tool and I can't believe I never saw this before.

You must complete the homework and sample questions in order to get the voucher. Also, they ran out of vouchers for this month so until CLEP gives them more, they will reimburse your exam cost.

They've gotten in some more vouchers; Whitney emailed me one on Monday -- which was nice, as I had scheduled a proctor for today, and I was just about to cancel the reservation, when I got the email. :-)

Oh, and for anyone who is turned off by the idea of "homework", be aware that what it really is is a free practice exam, spread out through the course modules, and then the same questions again all together at the end of the course.

Has anybody passed the cleps just with what modern states has provided them without other sources of study materials?

I passed the Saylor Micro and Macro exams and the Business Law exam just by watching all of the Modern States videos. I didn't end up taking the CLEP exams for them. I should add that I teach HS Econ., so maybe that discounts me.

I haven't, but they do claim you can. I'm guessing they think you can if you also read their free textbook. Personally, I use them as a kind of foundation for my studying and them move on to IC, textbooks, REA etc

I think you can, provided you have a bit of background familiarity with the topic. If you know nothing at all about it and/or find it difficult to grok, you might benefit from some kind of supplementary sources.

I looked at a couple of other sources beyond the two Modern States courses I did, but after taking the CLEPs, I believe I could have passed just from studying through Modern States. (I tend to over-study.)

This is exactly what I would recommend for any type of test actually, be it CLEP/DSST/TECEP, etc. It's the best method, to supplement
whatever information they provide you and do your own version "Coles notes" by summarizing items you know the least in the subject.
