Hey there,

I have decided to make a UMPI degree plan for the BABA: Accounting. If I have messed up somewhere in the Excel, please let me know.

This is also the degree plan I am working towards, I am opening up my Sophia account (and then Study) soon, if there are any discounts please let me know. If there are any tips, "heads up," or anyway I can save time/money, please let me know.

I have piggybacked off user @Kylan11

DEGREE PLAN: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...ue&sd=true

Total and Earned Credits

Completion percentage

Upper Level Requirement Counter (must have the majority of UL classes completed at UMPI)

Automatically marks classes as "Done" once Finish Date is filled in, and updates the counters

And lastly, a few tips for the journey that I hadn't read anywhere else:

The UMPI part is easily doable in 2 terms (even 1 if you have the time). I took the hardest/least interesting classes right away in the first term when my motivation was at a peak, so that Term 2 was extremely easy. Preference and difficulty are of course subjective, so think about it for yourself strategically.

BUS 325 is I believe the longest class in this program. Lots of big milestones and the final is huge. You want to enroll in this class first, at the start of a session, and slowly work your way towards it while you complete other classes.

BUS 343 is likewise a bit more involved than other classes - although nothing like BUS 325. You may want to enroll in this class right at the start of your second term.

Join the Discord! It's a great tool for staying motivated and has a ton of useful info.

So, I did it at last!
As of about an hour ago, I'm officially done with my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration: Project Management & Information Systems.
Waiting for announcements on degree conferral now

I believe that, at least until UMPI releases a CS degree, this is the best choice for people that are seeking employment in Project Management (especially in IT) or, like me, are already working as IT professionals nd want to get promoted to managerial positions.

Part of my success, despite life commitments and, sometimes, a loss of motivation, was staying organized and being able to clearly visualize the progress towards my goal.
Most of that was achieved with this degree plan that I am therefore sharing with you, in hopes that it will be useful, and as a thank you for all the priceless content and advice this forum has offered me free of charge.

The only change that I made to the plan was switching out my ACTFL Italian Proficient Certification to Sophia's Spanish I, because most of you aren't foreigners fluent in another language for some easy credits.

I took the IBM Data Analyst course through Coursera because it was a cheap and good certification for my resume.

The electives are clearly targeted towards IT professionals such as myself - feel free to customize them for your particular skills and interests.
It cost this much because I went for primarily RA credit. I have my reasons for this, which I lay out below.

Overall I am very satisfied with my experience. I feel like I learned a lot, it didn't take forever or break the bank (especially relative to those $30k CS postbacc programs out there), and I've come to greatly enjoy this style of online learning.

Why on earth did you do mostly RA credit?

Three reasons:

I tailored this degree plan to the expectations of the OMSCS admissions committee, who say they like to see graded RA coursework. As such, I tried to cover their recommended prerequisite areas with graded RA coursework, and then used ACE credit to plug the gaps.

I had a feeling (which was quickly vindicated as I took Sophia and SDC courses) that I would not learn a damn thing from my ACE courses. Could I have, had I taken the time to sit with the material? Yes, but I knew I wasn't going to do that, and instead go as fast as I can through the course material. I like the structure that RA courses provide, and I do feel like I learned more doing it this way. It also definitely prepared me for OMSCS coursework, which has a similar structure to most of the courses I've taken.

I wound up doing, like, ten times the number of projects this way. Really got my reps in.

Can you get into OMSCS without CS coursework being RA?

Maybe. I dunno. Other people on this forum have, but they all seem to have had more work experience than I.

Why the BACS, and not something else?

I didn't want the UMPI BABA PM & IS because it didn't seem technical enough, and WGU (which, despite not having grades, does seem to be reliable for getting into OMSCS if you do the BSCS there) wouldn't have waived my gen eds because I don't have an American degree. I also wanted something that would cost around $10k total and take around a year. So, the BACS it is. Just as well because I wanted to take structured coursework with set schedules and grades.

Why Washtenaw CC for so many of your courses?

They're my local community college, and I got a good rate going there, especially considering that courses there are 4 credits, not 3. Despite being my local CC, all the coursework is online, and you could hypothetically complete it from outside the US (WCC takes international students). Their non local rates aren't that much higher.

The 3 WCC courses I took were all part of the so called "Advanced Certificate in C++ Programming". The advantage of this program is that the courses are all condensed, 4 week, back to back and async, so I knocked all my courses for more advanced CS courses out in a single summer semester instead of having to spread them out over 3.

This degree cost me just under $11k, which is WAY more expensive than most BACS degree plans here.

Maybe.

Despite being my local CC, all the coursework is online, and you could hypothetically complete it from outside the US (WCC takes international students). Their non local rates aren't that much higher.

The 3 WCC courses I took were all part of the so called "Advanced Certificate in C++ Programming".
WCC automatically awarded me the certificate after I completed my coursework.
So, I found this forum a number of years ago and had copied someone's degree plan. I ended up breaking into the industry without a degree and kind of put off working towards my degree leading to the information to being dated. I don't see any new degree plans for this out there, so I updated the old degree plan and added some extra functionality to it like dropdown for school (can add more if you want) and double clicking date for a calendar date picker. All courses are updated and each of the Sophia and Study.com transfer courses are listed in the notes for the WGU courses. Figured I'd contribute something back for anyone who wants since I updated it for myself anyways.

If you notice any errors, let me know. I tried to double and triple check everything and I feel like it's as accurate as possible, but I am only human.

Note: This is for the Java pathway, may need slight edit for the C# pathway, but likely only swapping one or two classes around.
My UoPeople degree will end up costing me only 1000$ due to a 50% scholarship and a transfer fee waiver. So it's 1000$ + 4675£ for the whole pathway that leads from high school graduation to a properly accredited master in a well-paying field (finance/accounting) and an option to complete a DBA/PhD dissertation at a later stage.
