Hey everyone!

First, thank you very much to this forum and everyone who contributes here. It has already helped me tremendously.

Here is my current situation: I recently started taking ACE-credit courses toward earning a business degree. I am fortunate to already be in a pretty good business-related career, but it took me a while to get where I am because I do not have a bachelor's degree.

Getting a bachelor's degree in business has always been a goal of mine, but for a long time it felt a little out of reach. Finding this forum has honestly been a huge help. Since discovering DegreeForum, I have done a lot of research and completed quite a few courses through Sophia Learning and Study.com.

At this point, I wanted to double-check my progress with everyone here to make sure I am taking the most efficient route possible. I would also like to know if there are any better options or different approaches I should consider before I go any further.

I currently believe my best route to a quick bachelor's degree in business is through Excelsior University. My understanding is that I can transfer up to 105 credits and would need to complete 15 credits through Excelsior. I created a list of Sophia Learning, Study.com, and StraighterLine courses that I believe will transfer toward the Excelsior BS in Business. My goal has been to maximize transfer credits before enrolling at Excelsior.

My main goal is to complete a bachelor's degree in business as quickly and efficiently as possible, while still keeping the possibility of pursuing an MBA in the future.

Any advice is welcome. Thank you!
Are there any courses I am taking that are unnecessary or may not transfer the way I expect?
Am I missing any requirements that could prevent me from transferring the full number of credits I am expecting?
Is Excelsior still one of the best options for my situation, or would TESU, UMPI, or another school make more sense?
Which option would realistically give me the best chance of finishing in 1 to 2 semesters?
Would any of these options put me in a better position for pursuing an MBA later?

Please let me know if there are any additional questions or information that would help.

Looking for some advice and different perspectives.
Career advancement isn’t my goal. This is primarily about learning and, admittedly, personal fulfillment. I already have multiple master’s degrees, including one from UMPI.
I’ve been accepted into several doctoral programs, as well as a master’s program at a more prestigious university. Here’s what I’m weighing:

Master’s at a well-known, prestigious university: Approximately $60,000 and one year to complete with transfer credits.

Doctorate at a lesser-known university: Approximately $30,000 and one to two years to complete.

At this stage, another master’s would offer the school’s reputation, alumni network, and resources. A doctorate would mean reaching a new academic level, but at a school with less name recognition.

If career advancement weren’t the deciding factor, which would you choose? Would you place more value on the higher degree or the stronger university name and network?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has faced a similar decision.

Career advancement isn’t my goal. This is primarily about learning and, admittedly, personal fulfillment. I already have multiple master’s degrees, including one from UMPI.

Hello guys. First, I want to thank you all for the excellent information posted in this forum and for all the support I've received over the years.

To recap: I started building my credit base in 2017 with Study.com. And I have been on and off since then. This year, 2026, I decided to finish, so I finally enrolled at UMPI to do the residency. Fast forward to today: I finished the residency requirements for BLS Management, but I'm short ONE course for the upper-level requirement. I thought some of the courses I took for residency would also count toward the 24 UL credits I needed, but I was wrong. So now I need to take one more to finish my BLS.

I got 95% of my courses done at study but the upper level courses require to have the most expensive tier, I think is $280 per month, so I'm trying to avoid that if I can.

So my question today is: Can I find another UL course elsewhere? I heard Sophia charges a flat rate even for UL courses? Or does anyone have another idea?
As usual, thanks a lot, guys, for all the support, and have a great summer.

Hi all!

I received my AAS from Pierpont and am now ready to continue the journey to a Bachelor's and I've been eyeing the BA in Psychology from UMPI. I'm not sure what the next step should be -- should I take some courses from Study.com before applying? I'm not exactly sure what would be accepted towards the BA and what would still be outstanding.

I also want to apply for financial aid but need to make sure I do all of this on the right timeline. I found this Degree Plan but not sure if it's up to date. If it is, it looks like I'd have to take most of the upper level credit at UMPI.

Can you advise please?

Hello everyone,
I would appreciate any advice or experiences regarding credit recognition and admission to a master’s programme in the EU.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT from an EU institution, officially worth 240 ECTS credits. During my studies, however, I completed additional courses and academic requirements, so my total number of earned credits is 303 ECTS.
In terms of workload and total credits, this is close to the level normally associated with a master’s degree. However, I do not formally hold a master’s diploma, which is the issue I am currently trying to solve.
My goal is to continue to doctoral studies, but most PhD programmes require a completed master’s degree as a formal admission requirement. Because of this, I am looking for an accredited EU master’s programme that could recognise as many of my already earned additional ECTS credits as possible.
Ideally, I would like to find a programme where most of the requirements could be transferred or recognised, leaving only the master’s thesis, or perhaps one or two additional courses if absolutely necessary.
It would also be very important for the programme to be available online or mostly distance-based, as I am employed full-time and cannot regularly attend classes on campus.
In short: I have an EU Bachelor’s degree in IT with 240 ECTS, a total of 303 earned ECTS, and I am looking for an accredited EU master’s pathway that could help me formally obtain a master’s degree without repeating coursework I have already completed.
Has anyone had a similar experience, or does anyone know of universities or programmes in the EU that are flexible with ECTS recognition and offer online or distance-learning options?
Thank you in advance for any concrete advice or recommendations.

I tried not buying the textbooks, skipping classes trying to work, but the end result was I got the money but didn’t pass the classes. So I got the Pierpont degree 9.5 years late, but then got a bit lazy and have slowly chipped away at a couple more Sophia courses.
However, TESU has since changed it so the second degree is now a 'Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems'; the 'Business Administration' part is no longer mentioned.
I'm really liking the idea of having one degree that is ostensibly for computer science and one that is for business (even though the second one still has business classes, the name doesn't state it), instead of having a BA and a BS that both say they are for computer stuff.

So, I'm thinking I'd like to keep the BA in CS, and switch the BSBA to be in Operations Management instead, as it's a bit related to my work, so some stuff might come easily, and I'd learn a good bit that could be directly applicable to moving up at work.
Awhile back, I'd scheduled a call with an academic advisor to discuss this, and was told I can't have more than 9 credits apply to 2 areas of study, so I'd need 42 extra credits to complete a second degree. Unfortunately I had to get off the phone a little early before we could get into the math, but I wasn't sure how only being able to have 9 credits apply to 2 areas of study meant i needed 42 extra credits. At the same time, assuming I figure out I can indeed get the BA in CS as well without too much extra time/money, I'll do the CS non-TESU classes. Then I'll do the 15 credit TESU term to finish both the BSBA and BA.
"Once you meet the requirements for a BA Computer Science degree, you would only need 4 more courses + the business capstone to have a degree in BSBA CIS.(Now BS CIS)."

and

"Once you have a Computer Science degree, a Business Administration degree becomes much more valuable than any technology-related degree. You need 7 more courses, plus the business capstone, to earn a BSBA degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing or Operations Management. Sample double degree plans for Finance and Marketing are included in this degree program.".

So here it's saying I'd need 4 or 7 more courses plus a capstone to get the second degree, which doesn't add up to 42 credits, so I'm a little perplexed still as to what exactly I need to complete for 2 degrees.

So right now, my plan is to focus on getting all the non-TESU classes complete for the BSBA in Ops MGMT, since i have a fairly straightforward path on that. At the same time, assuming I figure out I can indeed get the BA in CS as well without too much extra time/money, I'll do the CS non-TESU classes. Then I'll do the 15 credit TESU term to finish both the BSBA and BA.

Questions-
How many extra courses does the second degree require? The advisor said 42 credits, but I didn't understand his math, and the guide says 8 courses, but maybe that's just for those specific degrees?
2. If I'm now wealthy enough that I can pay for this upfront, is there any reason to bother looking at financial aid stuff? I wouldn't need loans so I assume there's no benefit.

I am finally picking up my long neglected dream of completing a History BA with TESU. My account with TESU has been inactive for the last 2 years and I'm trying to decide what's the best option to bring it active again as far as taking a course or TECEP. As of the last evaluation I had with them, I have 93 qualifying credits on my degree plan. I'm getting to the last bit of the journey so I want to be careful not to waste my effort studying something that doesn't fulfill a requirement in my degree. So far, I have earned no upper level credits.

What I'm most concerned about presently is the 15 residency credits that are required with TESU. I understand that the capstone is included in that, and TECEP's don't don't qualify. Therefore, I have basically have 12 credits(4 classes) to take as part of the remaining 27 credits for my degree.

Here's a spreadsheet someone on here had helped me compile when I was pursuing this a few years ago for reference. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...id=0#gid=0
