ACE Credit Registry Change? Transcripts Services Ending
#81
(10-29-2020, 09:37 AM)collegechick Wrote: Hey everyone, I'm in the process of clarifying this mess.  I'm being given conflicting information from TESU transcripts department and the registrar concerning transferring credit.  Transcripts says they're accepting Credly badges and registrar is telling me SDC credits must come directly from SDC and not SDC via ACE!  I'm waiting for an e-mailed answer.

To be safe, I re-enrolled to TESU and had my ACE transcripts sent so as not to lose credits.  TESU said only two transfer evaluations are allowed.  So, it's best to let the folks in transfer put a hold on academic review until you're done transferring in everything.

It's not really conflicting information. It's the same thing it's been for a while.  TESU takes ACE transcripts (that will shift to be ACE via acclaim/credly).  But, there has been the exception for quite some time that SDC transcripts come from SDC directly.  That makes it nice because some of the SDC credits are from NCCRS and not ACE.  And if you send from SDC directly, it works.

two transfer evals are for applicants.  Once enrolled (with course or tecep) then you get more  Smile
TESU: BALS June 2021 (comm college, clep, sdc sophia coopersmith, SOS110, and capstone)

TESU has always ONLY accepted SDC credits on a SDC transcript. Thankfully, the SDC transcript process is completely free. You pay nothing to send your transcript to TESU. There has been no change to this policy. The issue is with other providers (like Sophia) where there is confusion regarding when the institution will have their badges available on Credly.

Also, you can increase the number of evaluations to an unlimited number by paying for (but not necessarily taking) the Medical Terminology TECEP. This fully enrolls you for a period of 12 months and grants you all the rights and privileges of being a degree-seeking student at TESU.

You know, with all this uncertainty going on, it's probably not a bad idea to screen print or print to PDF a copy of your completed list of courses from the ACE website before this changeover.

Just in case a course or two goes missing during the transfer to the Acclaim platform, you will have a record of before and after to compare.  Just saying.

I'm done with school for a while. Time to go make some $ now!

That's a good idea. We should still be able to log into the current system but you never know. I'll have to save a PDF just in case.

Except in a few rare circumstances, you'll always want to submit transcripts from Study.com and StraighterLine to TESU (or COSC/Excelsior/WGU) directly and not go through ACE. They have agreements in place that make things more streamlined, plus it is the only way to get NCCRS courses evaluated. It is okay to also submit courses to ACE so you'll have them all in the same place, but that isn't required. For providers that don't have transfer agreements in place, you'll need to go through ACE/Acclaim.

When you apply to TESU and are accepted as a student (aka applied status), you only get two free transfer evaluations. Once you have registered for (and paid for) at least one class or TECEP at TESU, and are at least 10 days into your first term (aka enrolled status) you get unlimited transfer evaluations for as long as you remain enrolled. You need to take at least once course (or TECEP) per year to remain in enrolled status.

As for academic hold... if they will do that it's a great idea! When I first signed up with TESU I didn't realize that they will automatically do transfer evaluations. It took me a while for my transcripts to all arrive at TESU so they ended up burning through both of my free evaluations before all my transcripts landed, which sucked. I ended up having to sign up for a TECEP just to get my transcripts evaluated so I could register for the Capstone.

Absolutely a good idea.  An even better idea is to get them on an RA transcript, that is the safest place for them.

As a FYI, there is no additional value in ACE credits being on an RA transcript. You cannot use a third party transcript for any other school. Every school will want to see transcripts from the source of original credit for evaluation purposes.

Having a copy of the original ACE transcript to make sure your Acclaim badges get transferred properly is a good idea in case you need to go back to ACE or Credly to work out any issues, but as unofficial transcripts, they won't be usable for anything else.

I went ahead and paid for one last "official" ACE transcript to be sent to TESU. Next week, I'll send in my Acclaim/Credly transcript. The Google IT cert is in Acclaim but never did get added to the currently-official transcript. So we'll see if there are any issues there.

I did the same as Rachel. I paid for an official ACE transcript to be sent. I'll send one from Acclaim once my Google IT Cert is done.
