We only hire people with four years of experience in software development unfortunately so it's hard to hire someone with a bachelors or a masters with no actual experience. This is becoming more common in the computer field since there are so few people graduating with computer degrees now the talent pool is older and more seasoned.
I would recommend getting relevant work experience any way you can. Volunteer to do bookkeeping for a non profit that doesn't want to pay for the service if you have to.
