Well, I took the DSST Physical Geology test today and just barely passed with a 48....46 is the lowest passing score. A score this low would normally make me complain (to myself), but not in this case! I knew almost nothing about geology when I started studying, and there is a huge amount of information to absorb. The resources I ended up using were the Cliff's Notes/Physical Geology, the video series called Earth Revealed at learner.org, and Essentials of Geology by Lutgens & Tarbuck. The computerized test I took had 114 questions. The questions seemed somewhat skewed toward minerals/rocks, and their composition, but was otherwise balanced in the body of knowledge listed on the fact sheet. I strongly recommend that if you can take any other science course that InstantCert offers flashcards for, that you go that route. I could have taken biology, but I thought that because it was six credits, and Physical Geology was three credits, that I'd be doing less work if I took Geology. It wasn't true.
