I would agree that Rutgers is a nationally recognized name.
Granted I've known of Rutgers as a school for a couple decades, but until the announcement, I didn't know it was a state school, or even what state it was in. I never really paid attention to it, past the fact that it exists. I grew up in Washington DC and spent about 30 years around there, so I'm out of the tri-state area. But I'm sure if you said 'I went to Rutgers' to a random person, they'd likely say 'Oh, yeah, I've heard of that school' if knowing nothing else about it.
Still though... I think its rather fraudulent of the TESC students who are chomping at the bit to have a Rutgers degree for the coursework they did at everywhere but Rutgers. If they did the 30 credit residency, sure that's great, they're a Rutgers student.
If you can't hack the name of the school on the degree, why'd you go there in the first place?
