I have been made aware of a unique opportunity to earn graduate level credit at a very affordable price through the Annenburg Media Foundation in partnership with Colorado State University. My question is, would these credits be viable for transfer to Excelsior's MA Liberal Studies degree program? If so, how many and which ones would be recommended? How would these credits be classified? Can they be used toward an undergraduate degree as well?
Here's the link to the program: Annenberg Media: Graduate Credit
Thank you for taking the time to thoughtfully consider these questions.

RESPONSE: Unfortunately, we would not accept this graduate credit into our Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree program. Let me explain. I reviewed the website and found that these workshops are offered by the school's Division of Continuing Education ... therefore, these credits are likely "Professional Development or Continuation Education Units" (the official college transcript would likely indicate them as such) and Excelsior College does not accept CEUs into our degree programs. Also, the workshops are Pass/Fail and our MA-LS degree program requires a letter grades of B- (or better) for acceptable transfer credits. Some colleges are willing to state that an "S" (satisfactory) or "P" (pass) grade is equivalent to a grade of ???? (some colleges will not). Usually, the back of the official transcript will state any equivalencies. In summary, these workshops would not provide you acceptable graduate-level transfer credits to our college.
Suggestion: Since these credits are being offered by Colorado State University, you may want to ask them which "degree programs" of their college would accept these credits. We have often seen that colleges will offer CE courses, but not allow them into their own degree programs.
If I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Alissa, This might be worth more follow up. I think the person who helped you is speaking about CEUs, which if true, wouldn't count for grad credit anywhere....but I'm not sure that these would transcribe as CEUs. The stuff I'm looking at clearly states credit. Hummm.
