Basket Weaver Wrote:Hello all once again. This site is a Godsend for people like me who are grinding away at the CLEP/DSST/ECE exams in the pusuit of their degree. I have 76 credits/3.75 GPA under my belt, as far as Excelsior is concerned, and need 10 more tests to get my degree. I have taken the following tests in the last 5 weeks but have not received any scores yet:
Ethics in America (DSST) IC only
Ethics: Theory and Practice (ECE) IC only
Human Resource Mngt (ECE) IC Only
Drug and Alcohol Abuse (DSST) IC Only- I thought it was easy; being military probably helped with the alcohol portion of the test.........
Here is my future roadmap I worked out with my advisor:
World Pop
Abnormal Psych
Adult Aging
Gerontology
Humanities
Intro to Word Religions
Money and Banking
Management Info Systems
Civil War and Reconstruction
ECE's College Comp
and of course we can't forget the ever popular 1 credit Information Literacy  .
My goal is to take a test a week as it's worked so far for the tests taken, I feel I at least passed them; though time will tell. This method keeps me focused/motivated to keep my face in the study material, otherwise I would procastinate.
I have found many resources and study guides from the advice posted by others but I still have some concerns over World Pop and ECE's College Comp. I did take the CLEP 6 credit English test, with absolutely no study, and got an A, is the ECE test similar/are there essay questions? For some reason Excesior won't accept it the CLEP score for the English requirement.
I wish IC would come up with a study guide for World Pop as it seems to be one most people take. Short of that happening, I guess I'll go to the library and see if Week's book is available and actually study a text book argggg! I have also downloaded the terms associated with the test to familiarize myself with the lingo used. Any other sugestions? I went to the CIA site but was a little overwhelmed with where to start and what to research. Further feedback would be great.........
I wasn't too concerned with my GPA until I got my eval back, now I'd like to keep it up for the diploma. Either way, just to get this hurdle out of the way will be a huge load off my shoulders. I retire soon from the military (24 years) and need this to make myself more marketable in the civilian sector. I already have an Associates in Aviation Maintenance but from the job searches I've seen one needs a 4-year degree to open those doors.
Thanks to all who have written back on their testing experiences, keep them coming as they are more valuable than you will ever know. More to come as the test results come in. Lee

GOOD LUCK!!
