Well, he only has 9 credits so far towards his gen ed. She just indicated that FEMA courses are considered applied professional type of courses. Although I have heard of 1 FEMA course being an arts and science course.
However,
Excelsiors BSLS is split where 60 credits need to be in arts and science with 21 of those credits being upper level. So within those 60 credits would entail the gen ed courses and major courses.
Then the remaining 60 credits could be in arts and science or applied professional type of courses with 9 of those being upper level. Also minus the 1 credit Information Literacy course. These courses could basically be looked at as electives.
Hopefully that explains Excelsior a little better.
