thanks for the good information on this option for math. I'm wanting to teach in Tx too. However, when I was young and didn't know how to argue with my advisor, I got talked into taking a calculas class as my first math class. The problem with that is that in order to count for my degree, I have to take a math classer at a higher level than what I have already taken. I have no desire to take Calculas 2. I'd been debating taking the algebra clep, but the option you outlined isn't much different cost wise than what I'd spend on clep, and would give me a letter grade for Tx. It's actually cheaper than taking the class at the local jr college.
