I won't say that this is a bad deal, however. 15 credits that can be applied to a Master's degree and a certificate from a school that has some name recognition is a really good outcome. Especially if transferred to a school that accepts a high amount of graduate transfer credits, of which there are a few. Amberton and FHSU come to mind, since I've considered programs from them before, but there are several others.

You can only transfer in 2 classes at Amberton and they have to be the same course. Amberton's tuition is only $300 per credit so it's not a huge savings taking these ASU courses.
You can transfer up to 12 credits at Amberton, even for the 30-credit master's degrees. There are some  Amberton degrees that allow for a large amounts of electives and/or courses that are categorize within certain course prefixes.

My thinking is that one could stack the certificate into a Masters and have both the certificate and the Masters to show for it. It would be slightly less expensive than just doing the Masters and would leave you with two credentials.

Amberton was just one example. There are a handful of other schools well known to this forum community that would also be worth checking into if one wanted to get some extra use out of these credits.

BTW, yes, this is something I'm considering doing. Considering, as I always do, without ever pulling the trigger and actually finishing Big Grin

You can only transfer 3 credit courses into Amberton. The courses must match the course at Amberton. You can also complete certificates at Amberton as part of your grad degree.
