Yes, the questions in the CLEP Official Study Guide do tend to be a little harder than the actual test.
Here are the two resources I used to take the test (both highly recommended):
- Comex Review for the CLEP General College Mathematics Exam
- Princeton Review's Cracking the CLEP
Using these books, I passed the test with a 74. I have taken six CLEP tests and this has probably been the easiest of them all. The exam is not difficult, since it is mostly a review of high school basic math concepts.
