Yes, they are 18 yo. I'm encouraging them to enjoy this last "free" summer. In July they will be starting a paid internship doing IT for a new gym franchise. They'll also continue working on some new IT certs. After 6 months to a year they'll reevaluate staying or moving on but at least they'll have some experience.

One of my ex's moved to Costa Rica a decade or dozen years ago.  I've not been there yet, but may want to in the future!  Interesting mix of classes, it'll be a good reference for others who want to pave their way towards Excelsior's BSLA, they can take Coopersmith or Study.com upper level classes that can transfer to get the Upper Level requirements done or other ACE/NCCRS options available for transfer...

Thanks!  Very much looking forward to our trip. Mine did ALL Coopersmith UL classes (no Study UL) and really enjoyed most of them.

Did you do the college level courses instead of high school ones - essentially, dual enrollment for homeschool? What are there career plans now? Thanks! ?

Mine started taking college level classes (mostly Study and Sophia) in 7th grade as our high school classes. Kind of like dual enrollment like you mentioned. Arizona is a very homeschool friendly state so I had a lot of leeway in class choices. I skipped their sophomore year of high school and bumped them up since we had completed all the expected courses. Mine did actually take some official dual enrollment classes too-they spent 2 years in a tech school for IT Security- and earned 27 community college credits there. So they didn't work on any other alternate credits in those 2 years. If they hadn't gotten into the school, we would have continued with the alternative credits and they would have earned their Bachelors at 16 yo. I'm really glad they were able to get the experience and maturity those 2 years offered though.

One of my boys MAY have chosen to go on to get a degree and the other definitely would NOT have. I never stressed that they HAD to get a degree but, once I researched (with a lot of help from this group) how we could incorporate it into our homeschool it just seemed like a no brainer. If they choose to go on to get another Bachelors or a Masters they can but at least this one is done and will, hopefully, provide them some opportunities they wouldn't have had without it. Also, no student debt!
