MBA from WGU
#5
(03-29-2024, 09:44 AM)Jonathan Whatley Wrote: WGU recently slightly liberalized graduate transfer credit. You can review transfer guidelines for each WGU degree here.

Two courses can be transferred into the MBA in Healthcare Management, each equivalent to 3 graduate CUs: one in organizational behavioral leadership (towards C200 Managing Organizations and Leading People) and another in business ethics or ethical leadership (towards C206 Ethical Leadership). For the generic MBA, one additional course can be transferred, also for 3 graduate CUs: in business communication for leaders (towards C204 Management Communication).

There are no known ACE courses in these subjects available to the general public at the graduate level, which is essential. There are an extremely few NCCRS graduate courses in business, but as of last report WGU has never taken NCCRS credit.

You might be able to pioneer the tactic of taking graduate courses from a low-cost college that isn't WGU and transferring the credit to WGU. Because WGU is friendly to nationally accredited credit, you might see if you could match those courses at Nexford University or Bottega University. But it might not save much or any cost or time over completing the courses at WGU.

It's also possible WGU might accept one or more courses you've already completed toward your MSN in healthcare administration toward one or more of their transferable courses!

I believe you need to reach out to the advisor for an update on the transfer credit policy. I checked, and I believe WGU has changed their policy. They are now accepting transfer credits from other universities. You need to find the same courses and match the syllabus and description of the course, so you can transfer the graduate-level credits.

The WGU website: "WGU accepts limited college transfer credits at the graduate (master’s) level in some degree programs. There are special requirements to receive graduate-level transfer credit that vary by program. Please speak with your enrollment counselor for more information."
