American Public University?

Unfortunately, American Public University will never be recommended on this forum. 

There are just too many problems with them.

I don't really understand this approach/stance when people regularly recommend other schools such as Excelsior, Walden, South, LU and other dubious international schools get recs on this forum. All of these are mired in various controversies.

I definitely see where you are coming from.  Especially with the dubious international schools… particularly ENEB.  I fell for that allure. The coursework is lacking.  It’s really just self-taught.  Kinda wish I hadn’t spent the $250 bucks.  But, I also knew it was a risk and chose to spend the money. 

I think Walden got attention because they used to offer your first term for free.  I did that, but found I got exactly zero credits completed.  They had mandatory zero credit courses I had to get done first.  But it taught me that CBE wasn’t a good fit for me.

To each their own. I enrolled in American Military University in 2000. I transferred the maximum amount of credits (90). I completed a dozen classes. I was awarded my BA (Military Management) in 2002. All of that was before the university moved its headquarters from Virginia to West Virginia, started to call itself the American Public University System,   and achieved regional accreditation. I am very happy with my American Military University experience. I think American Military University/American Public University System holds up very well when compared with its competitors, the other colleges and universities marketed towards active duty military personnel and veterans. I am truly amazed at the growth of the institution. I attended commencement in the summer of 2002. It was held at the Army Navy Club, downtown, DC.  Less than 20 graduates attended. Most were awarded a master of something degree. Of note, American Military University was created by an active duty Marine Corps officer to provide an additional option for U.S. military officers to pursue Professional Military Education (PME). These past many years commencement has been held at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland. According to a PR Newswire article, there were over 14,000 graduates at commencement this year. I make n effort to stay up to date regarding my alma matter
