Hey all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I've got an interesting situation. It was about a year ago that I determined that there was never going to be the "right" time to get back into school and finish up my degree. I had 38 credits from Univ MD College Park (fear the turtle ....)
In the family of UMD schools is Univ of MD University College. I applied and met with an academic advisor. She suggested that I may be able to save some money by taking some distance learning credits at the local community college. So I have been taking classes ... and this fall is my third semester. I also stumbled upon the clep program which has led me to this fine group. I've taken and passed three exams so far, with eight more in my sights. At that point I will hit that barrier where UMUC has a residency requirement.
I have not enrolled in UMUC. However, I have been specifying their college code on my clep / dantes exams - and they have been applying the credit. I can verify this online. I will not officially enroll next Spring semester.
While preparing for the tuition costs, I stumbled upon this menu of fees - which includes a $90 per hour credit by exam award fee from UMUC.
Fall 2008 Undergraduate - Tuition and Fees - UMUC
My question is this ... I haven't received any sort of bill from UMUC since I have not enrolled. Does anyone know (or think) that UMUC will do the following:
1. Once I enroll they will bill me for all the credits by exam.
2. They will only bill me for credits by exam after I am officially enrolled.
3. I'm reading this wrong and they don't bill for clep / dantes credit hours at all.
Thanks all for your help. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site.
Matt
