I am guessing that they have some sort of arrangement where the cost is deeply discounted in the first place.

Sure - but I'm still going to guess that a self-paced program is difficult for many to be successful in, and for someone working at KFC, who probably doesn't already have experience in business or CompSci or whatever, this is not going to work out well.

I've found that WGU is best for people already in the field who can test out of many courses.
