For what it's worth, Snow College could be the cheapest for generic RA credit - depending on how fast one can work through the courses. They're slightly less than $2000 for a semester - and unlike earlier this applies to all US residents.

Not everyone is going to want, or need, that many RA credits. But, if one is able to work through the full AS in one semester, it'd be about $32/credit. To equal $50/credit, students would need to take 39 credits in the semester. Transfer in 7 CLEP exams and you'd still be able to get the AS degree.
