So the way I WOULD have calculated that was 14/4 which would be 3.5. But looking at the grading in the original post it would be 14/16, which is an 87.5 or 3.3. That will make a difference in whether or not I get summa cum laude. It puts me at a 3.9 ONLY if I get a 4 on this next final if it its 3.3. (I have 11 classes, 9 with a 4.0, this one with the 3s, and then my last one I am submitting tomorrow.). If I get even a 3.5 on this one, it will be 3.89 which knocks me out of SCL. And the thing is, I don't understand. I was praised throughout the milestone and made the changes in the draft I was asked to make. I was SO SET on a 4.0 and now that is gone. But I will be devastated after all the time and effort I have put in if I don't get summa cum laude. I know it's doesn't affect the degree, but it affects ME. And I wore a gold cord in my grad photo because I was so certain I'd get it.
Don't worry yet! The numbers given in the rubric do NOT always translate to the grade you receive. It depends on the professor. I have received a 3 and still been given an A. Here is UMPI's grading. You can't get a 3.5 for a grade.
A+ 4.00
A 4.00
A- 3.67
B+ 3.33
B 3.00
B- 2.67
I had a 4.0 for my first degree at UMPI. I ended up with a 3.949 for my second degree and I was super annoyed I didn't get a 3.95 at least. But it's life. I've moved on. I'm in grad school now and that 3.949 is pretty much meaningless. It's all about my grad school grades now.
I had a class where I only got 3s. I should've got a B and the professor gave me an A anyways and put a comment on my final good work in the milestones.
