First off, I'm not a smart student at all and I'm not mentally well. An assignment that would take most students 4 hours to complete would take me around 12+ hours. My mentor was actually great! She wasn't helpful in regard to the assignments, but she was super nice.
Where I went wrong....
I registered for another class along with the capstone. The course load was way too much for me. As others on this forum have suggested, I would take the capstone by itself if at all possible. I failed the capstone because I turned my final assignments in exactly 22 hours after the "deadline". My mentor refuses to accept them, as I assume she's already sent off the grades... I probably won't finish my bachelor's degree because of this failure, but hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes.
The class itself is not hard, it's just extremely time consuming. I spent over 30 hours on my capstone project, which was intense. For those taking the class in the future, I would suggest getting your work done early and taking the course by itself.
Good luck!
Failing a class doesn't mean you're not smart. It only means that you're not smart when it comes to essays. You're almost certainly smarter than I am about some things, just as I'm probably smarter than you about other things. Don't beat yourself up over failing one class! As others have suggested, I would definitely contact TESU to see what can be done. If nothing else, I would hope that they would at least allow you to retake the class. It would suck having to do another 30+ hours of work on another capstone project, but at least you now know the course workload so hopefully you'd be able to manage your time better. Also, you wouldn't have that other class bogging you down.
