I hopped on board over 10 years ago. I'm a big believer, needless to say. Car battery packs are way too valuable not to be recycled (and more likely reused) properly, so I don't share the concern that is sometimes expressed. Even if you live in a place that's still using coal for electricity (not all that many), it's much easier to clean up electricity generation than millions of cars, it's generally cleaner even now. If you can manage rooftop solar, then you don't even have that worry. I'm not going to lie, if you don't have decent incentives where you live, or you can't use the federal tax credit, then the initial purchase is going to be a tad expensive, but it's cheaper than it's ever been to go electric at this stage.
The biggest problem is for those who don't have their own garage that they can install charging in. Renters are kinda stuck until we reach the tipping point where landlords find that NOT having charging is costing them quality tenants. We're just not there, not yet.
