Hello Vladmire.
I would hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm afraid I have some. Based on the CLEP and DANTES exam listing, there are no other exams you can take besides the DSST Public Speaking that falls under the "Communications" category.
Depending on how hard pressed you are for credit, your only other option will be to take a TECEP exam. They offer an exam called Public Relations Thought & Practice which is a 3 credit exam. However, the TECEP is quite pricey. The cost is $80 per credit attempted for both New Jersey and Out of State residents. So the total cost to take this exam would be $240 ($80 times 3 credits.) In addition, nonenrolled students pay $160 per credit attempted. So if you are not enrolled in TESC, then you'll be paying $480 ($160 times 3 credits.)
My suggestion to you would be to just take a communications course at your local community college. Just be sure to check with TESC to see if you will receive transfer credit. You don't want to take a course just to find out later that you won't get credit for it. I believe that the course tuition will be more feasible at a local community college than taking a communications course at TESC. The course tuition at TESC is as follows:
* New Jersey Residents - $132
* Out of State Residents - $175
* Nonenrolled Students - $335
The tuition rates above are "per credit attempted."
If the tuition rates at your local community college are higher than normal, you can always shop around for the best deal. Look into maybe taking an online class at a college whose fees are alot more economical. I'm sure some other members here can give you some suggestions on this matter.
I am sorry to hear that you did not pass your DSST Public Speaking exam. Don't let that deter you from your goals though. Look at it as just a small bump in the road--just don't let that bump turn into a pothole.
I'm sure some other forum members will have some other suggestions for you to follow. I'm just giving you my thoughts & opinions. But if there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
Good luck to you in all of your educational pursuits.
Peace be with you always.
From a loyal degree seeker,
Marshall
