Question about PUG's proof of 3 competed collage courses.

Sophia is the fastest way to get credit.

PUG us on the quester system thus 180 credits instead of the tradition 120 semester credits. Different systems. In the ExcelTrack most of the courses are broken down into 1 credit courses. They all count in the degree program.

Yes you can take as many classes as you can complete.

My husband hasn't had any exams in ExcelTrack.

PUG isn't easy. There's a lot of work in each course. I wouldn't spend the money at PUG for 2 degrees unless one is undergrad and one is grad.

My husband has enjoyed his program. He's in the Analytics ExcelTrack. He'll be happy when it's over though because it is a lot of work.

The PUG name will go further for a job than TESU. My husband was debating between PUG and WGU and everyone at his office said go with PUG. They all know Purdue. No one knows WGU.

Thank you for your reply. On average how many courses does your husband feel comfortable taking per term, while also working full time and balancing family? 

Also, where were his previous three classes from? A local college or?

These answers are based on student reports that I have seen.  They may not be 100% accurate so take them with a grain of salt.
 

1. What would be the fastest and best route to knock out the previous 3 college course requirement?
   (Any ACE course, don't worry about this requirement as when you follow a degree plan, you'll have more than enough courses)
   
   
2. The 180 credit requirement is throwing me off a bit. How many credits are each class? Their website says "Take as many 1-credit courses as you want in a term and pay one flat tuition rate". If some classes are more than 1 credit, do they not apply towards that quote?
   (LL courses are 5 credits, UL 300+ are 6 credits.  They break down each course into 1 credit for each module. The math converts to 1.5x so typically a college degree is 120 credits x 1.5 = 180.  So if you earn 3 credits with Sophia, this is 4.5credits converted into Purdue)
   
   
3. Is it really unlimited classes per term?

4. I assume the finals are proctored. Are there additional fees for that?

5. If you can take unlimited classes, does anyone have experience completing two degrees relatively easily?
   (PUG isn't easy.  I would ask Purdue on dual degree/major procedures)
   
   
6. Anyone have any complaints about PUG's excel track?
   (Some complaints are module locking though can be solved by opening multiple courses at the same time such as 3-5 courses at the start of your term.  The biggest complaint is probably all the writing involved.  I have seen a detailed student log on the work involved.  The classes are broken down into 1 credit module and each module contains around 1200 word paper or problem set or PowerPoint.  While writing 5 papers for 1 course seems like a lot, writing 500 words an hour is manageable and not much different than a TESU course which can be done in 20 hours.  Reports are the grading is fair and easy.)
   
   
7. The excel track degrees at PUG are very concentrated as compared to TESU's more broad technology degrees. It may be more money and TESU may not transfer some of the certs for credit from places like W3C but would their degrees be a better option if cost for each program was an irrelevant variable and you just wanted the degree with the better job prospects?
   (TESU only has 1 tech degree, computer science that can be done with alt credit. It will likely be less money at TESU because you're likely looking at 3 terms $2800 each at PUG for ExcelTrack.  I would advise people do 3/4 courses per term, then the final capstone course I hear they don't start this until you are at the beginning of your term which is why it will likely take 3 terms to complete. PUG Professional Studies can likely be done for less than TESU. As far a job is concerned in tech, for IT you can get the certs on your own no matter what school you go to.  For coding jobs, you need to build a portfolio of projects. A degree serves to check the box, but you still need to build your skills on your own.  After you get your first couple of jobs, your degree will matter less than your experience.)
   

PUG has a brand name that everyone recognizes.  While for some this doesn't matter, others will be happy not having to do extra explaining to their family and friends what school they went to.
