I took Reading section for Russian, but the structure of the exam is the same for all languages. You need to read ~15 short texts and answer 1 multiple choice question for every text. The exam is adaptive, is instantly graded, and ACE badge is issued automatically.
I'm intrigued by the ACFTL exam. How do they know what is your native language? Couldn't people just sign up for whatever language they choose? It seems like that is too easy and maybe not every college would accept ACFTL for college credit.
Well, I asked Jessica if it's OK to take ACTFL in my native language. Should she said "no" I would have picked different language - I speak several languages.
I don't see anything wrong about that. ACTFL is a professional examination that is also happen to be ACE-evaluated. It does not prohibit native speakers from taking exams in their native language. Neither does UMPI.
