I lived in a place where the bedroom only had a north-facing window. Large window. It got plenty of light, technically. But it was so hard to wake up because there were no south-facing windows in the whole place. I can't imagine having no windows at all.
And they're in California, where earthquakes can happen. Better hope the emergency lights actually work if/when the power gets cut off during a quake.
