FYI, I was poking around in my account. Went to DASHBOARD > PREFERENCES > USER ACCOUNT > NOTIFICATION PREFERENCES. Under System there are now badge options, and mine were set to "OFF". I switched them to "ON". Perhaps this will make it less of a hassle to get future badges?
