IIRC, the Georgia Tech program isn't exactly super competitive and it doesn't matter if you have SDC courses on your transcript or not. The PLA courses just have pass/fail on them, and not a letter grade, just like the SDC courses. I think they don't really care what courses you have or haven't done. Looking at their admission criteria, they only state that you need an undergrad degree in CS or similar and a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Since PLA is pass/fail, a PLA will not help you with that. I'm not aware of any inexpensive graded credits for compiler construction offhand but that doesn't mean there isn't any.

I'm only commenting for the PLA portion. The course/courses a person wants to PLA doesn't have to be in the PLA database. Say Stanford University has a compiler course you would take the course description and syllabus from Stanford and submit it to TESU when you are applying for PLA.
