I did quite a bit of research into both the MSML and MBA before I started my program at WGU. The MSML is made up of 11 courses: 7 PA's, 3 OA's, and 1 OA+PA. On the other hand the MBA ITM also has 11 courses: 6 PA's, 4 OA's, and 1 OA+PA. The courses that are PA's require 1-5 tasks (different papers, projects, or presentations), most require 2-3.
From a writing vs. exam perspective, the difference between the two comes down to one exam. You'll end up with either 4 or 5 exams to take regardless of the program.
